Scott joined Tumblebees in 1997 as a volunteer assistant coach for the trampoline and tumbling team and eventually joined Sally Newton and two others in ownership. Before then, he worked in a family business and was an executive for a publicly traded company.
Degrees: Scott holds a BA in music from Duke University, MBA from Wake Forest University, MS in Counselor Education from UNC-G, and a double Ph.D. in Sport Psychology Counseling and in Educational Sport Psychology from Breyer State University.
Certifications: USAG Safety certified, CPR and First Aid certified, USAG National level Tramp & Tumbling Coach, Professional Member USAG TNT, USA Diving Certified Coach.
Experience: He was a former high school, collegiate, and senior national diver. Scott has coached diving for twenty-six years and trampoline for nineteen years. He has assisted athletes in their journeys in age group, junior national, and senior national levels, and is a USA Gymnastics National Team Coach for Double Mini-Trampoline. Scott is married with three adult sons and two grandsons.
Scott’s coaching philosophy: Each athlete has their own sport development journey and their own character development journey. A coach’s role is to develop the athlete in their sport with the ultimate goal to help teach the athlete how to better address the issues and concerns of the world around them, now and in the future
